4th of February, part 2
So I closed my computer, and right next to me sat a girl from Finland, and we talked a bit, she is an exchange student, studying something I sadly do not remember what, at the university in orange county and were here for the weekend. So anyway I needed to go upstairs with my computer and I bid her a hearty farewell, she was not joining the pub crawl, because she had to study.
I went upstairs, carrying my computer beneath my arm and got in my room, this time there were two girls I introduced myself and I got their names and of port of call, one of the girls were from germany, I've seen A LOT of germans in the US so far, and the other girl was from holland as far as I recall. I sat and talked with them a bit, getting to know my roommates is important I figure, and then I found out that they were studying the same place as the girl from finland, by the way I actually do know their names, kind of, I just refrain from writing them here so they can enjoy at least some kind of anonymity.
So it turned out the finnish girl lived in the room as well, what a crazy random happenstance! After a while a guy from australia came in, but by then it was almost time to go pub crawling so I didn't get to talk with him much, I took on my shoes and stuff and then I went downstairs where people were drinking to get ready for the pub crawl, I sat myself next to the finnish girl again and told her I was in the same room as her, we talked a bit, and then the guy leading the pub crawl went around to people telling them we were gathering outside and getting ready to leave, I went outside took some pictures of the motel, so you guys can see where I lived, and talked a bit with an irishman and two tall shy german blonde girls, more germans, the irishman played some kind of blowing instrument and wasn't joining us on the bar crawl, he insisted being drunk was better when you had to play instruments, which I know is rubbish but meh, let the guy have his fun.
Then suddenly I noticed the crowd had grown considerably and was beginning to move out of the alley, I guess tall shy german blonde girls can distract just you enough not to notice 10-20 people stepping out of a door a few feet away, I told the german girls that people were going, because clearly they too were mesmerised. Hopefully by my daring adventuresque rugged looks, but probably they were just listening to the drunk irish bloke going on about drunken stuff.
So we went down the alley and the guy leading the bar crawl introduced himself and we had a name round, and everyone forgot each others names immediately of course but then we went for the first bar, on the way I spoke a little with a couple of people but nothing too interesting, mostly stuff like "what is your name", "Hi I am blah blah", "nice to meet you", "What do you do", "That sounds awesome", "can I have your autograph" and "you are my greatest idol, I wanna give birth to your children", just the kind of stuff people normally talk about when first they meet me.
But we came to the first bar which had a lot of awesome stuffed animals, one of them had a hat on, and I bought myself a beer, a brown ale, and being a guy, I sat next to two women, (as I mentioned earlier I would) from the hostel, whom I will not be describing in detail since I friended them on facebook later in the night, and I do not want them to be too flattered by my kind words, I will say however that they were from switzerland. In the bar was a tv showing Scarface, and we discussed for some time which movie it was, because one of the girls thought it was a peter sellers flick, which I knew it wasn't, I am clever that way, knowing al pachino is not peter sellers and all.
So after about an hour we went on, I do not have a vivid memory of the second bar, so it must've been less than fantastic I guess, or maybe I just think I were in one more bar, than I actually was.
Well the third bar, or the second, depending on whether or not I was at a bar between this one and the first one, was kind of a weird mix between a dancing place and a sitting still and drinking place, so people were mostly just standing around, and dancing a bit on the spot.
I got a pale ale, and began talking with some of the people from the hostel, including the two tall shy german blonde girls, who were flight attendants. I guess that's perfect if you are a tall shy german blonde girl, at least the male passengers will appreciate it.
But they were only doing it for 6 months, afterwards they were gonna start their education. I left the two tall shy german blonde girls, because I got tired of not being able to hear what they were saying over the music, and also because tall shy german blonde girls are shy and do not really carry a conversation well I'm afraid.
I walked around for a bit and ended up back with the swiss girls as they were the ones I felt were the easiest to talk to, I started an argument I had lost so many times before, and never will win, whether or not men can be dancing sexy, one of the girls came with the best argument that I've heard, several times, and yet again I must admit; I am not gay, therefore I cannot possibly know whether men can dance sexily. Which I still do not quite believe they can, possibly I never will.
I got another pale ale because she dared me to dance so she could tell me if it were sexy or not, and for some reason I did not really feel drunk enough to make a fool out of myself at that juncture, oh a little side note getting a drink in the US take longer than it does in denmark for some reason, the bartenders are not quite as fast I suppose.
I drank it and promised, if it were possible I'd dance at the next bar. Because when my glass was empty we had to leave again.
The last bar was CROWDED like you wouldn't believe.. Or well, it was as crowded as a danish bar on the 25th of december or something, so maybe you would believe it actually. But one of the swiss girls got me a beer, once again my manliness reversed the traditional gender roles, and we found a place to sit, for some reason no one wanted to sit down and there were a lot of vacant booths.
I talked with the two swiss girls and whoever came over to the table, I am gonna leave the details vague, mostly because when people are drunk they do some “weird stuff” sometimes, and I don't feel good about writing about other people's “weird actions”, but yeah, there were some “weirdness” going on between some people at the hostel.
So then I had emptied my beer, which was a budweiser by the way. And the swiss girl who had not bought me a beer, bought me another one. Fun Fact: I've never bought a girl a beer unless I bought beers for several people at the same time, or if I bought several beers in a store, and just handed one over. But at several occasions girls have bought me a beer, once I got a beer from one girl and a beer and a drink from another girl, at the same time!
Now you might say; “way to tell people you are a true gentleman morten”, but then I'd say; “I find the notion ' gentleman' to be sexist, and I believe in equality”.
But that also would mean I should've bought girls a beer just as many times as I received a beer, but that is a minor detail nobody really cares about.
So after a short while and way before I could finish my beer it was 1.30 AM and the bar was closing, we went home to the hostel and I got persuaded to join in on a little drinking at the hostel which lasted until 3 or 4 AM, we played a game with two belgian guys who called the game danish, I didn't win, and then again there were weirdness going on which I am not gonna tell you about, but you are welcome to use your wild imagination.
At around 4 AM I got up to bed, and slept, I'm thinking I'm gonna join a pub crawl again tonight, the three girls in my dorm are going, they seem nice so it should be fun. Right now I am gonna catch a bit of shut-eye, as I've slept for like 4 hours tonight so I'm a bit exhausted, gonna write again before I leave for the pub crawl, see ya!
